Eden County Gunslingers
Back in the winter of 2015 some hombres who were quick with the gun drifted into peaceful Eden Country, far enough to the east of the stomping grounds of the Western Territory Rangers that they could avoid any confrontations.
The gang consisted of Jack Anvil and his woman, Lady Derringer, together with Slow Wilson and a fourth hombre known only as “Nobody,” because he wanted to lay low.
The gang found a place where they could meet once a month to practise with their shooting irons, because slow gunslingers quickly find a place on Boot Hill.
A few years later, Canvas Pete and his woman, Calamity Jane, drifted in from the Free State, together with their buddy Davy Crocket. Canvas Pete brought with him the new-fangled semi-automatic pistol.
The gang holds friendly competitions on the first Saturday of each month at the On Target shooting range in George, next to the Gwaing river on the R102. GPS Coordinates –33.989810, 22.416893.
Shooting starts early, around 8:30, so that gang members can make themselves scarce before too many townsfolk start moving around.
Competitions use two revolvers, a pistol-calibre lever-action rifle, and 12-gauge shotguns, both side-by-side and pump-action, as well as the Colt 1911 0.45 calibre pistol for the members who have them.
